Using a Pleneo hub in BYOD mode

Connect your laptop over USB and start the meeting, with no room-side setup.

Overview

Once the Pleneo hub is installed and configured, it supports BYOD (bring your own device) mode. Connect your laptop via USB and start the meeting; there's no room-side setup needed.

Before you begin

Make sure the Pleneo hub is already installed and ready for use. If it isn't, complete setup first using the preferred deployment method.

Once the Pleneo hub is deployed, no extra configuration is needed for daily BYOD use, which is what keeps it reliable from one meeting to the next.

Use the Pleneo hub in BYOD mode

Using a Pleneo hub as a BYOD system takes three steps:

  1. Connect your laptop to the Pleneo hub using a USB cable

  2. Select the Pleneo hub as your audio device on the laptop

  3. Start your meeting

While connected, automatic camera tracking stays active, and mute and volume are controlled from your laptop. RoomHub runs quietly in the background, so there's nothing else to manage during the call.

Connect audio and video

If your room includes a PTZ camera, we recommend you bring audio and video into a single laptop connection.

Recommended setup:

  1. Connect the PTZ camera's USB video output to a USB hub

  2. Connect the Pleneo hub to the same USB hub

  3. Connect the USB hub to your laptop

This gives you one connection for both audio and video, keeping cabling simple in shared or multi-purpose rooms. Once connected, audio processing and camera tracking start automatically, with no manual setup.

In summary

Pleneo hubs makes BYOD meetings simple:

  • One USB connection to the laptop

  • Automatic audio processing and camera tracking

  • Laptop controls mute and volume

  • No room-side configuration
